Miscellaneous Things
I don't just like to write in exchange for money. Sometimes I do it for free!
Spec Scripts!
Hey, I have specs of TV pilots I've written! But I'm not going to post them here for a variety of reasons both legal and not legal (not illegal...I'm just saying some of the reasons have nothing to do with the letter of the law). If you're interested in reading them, though, drop me a line and I'll put you in touch with my management team. In the meantime, here's a cool
picture of me at the Chicago Cubs home opener in 2017.
This Slam Dunk Kills Fascists
Reading "Pure Drivel" by Steve Martin in middle school changed my life. So, in a burst of inspiration before process began on my second Second City show, I thought I would shamelessly rip it off and write my own collection of humor essays. I guess I could've submitted these pieces somewhere but those places always said "no" (and usually for good reason) so I just made a PDF and posted it for free on my Twitter account. You can read it here.
Cheers reunion spec
Like a lot of comedians in their twentysomethings in the early 2010s, I went back and watched "Cheers" and fell in love with it. Fast forward to 2019, when everything was getting rebooted and revived and whatnot: I thought it'd be fun to write a "Cheers" reunion special. The goal wasn't to subvert or satirize the show or offer some post-modern ironic spin on it; I genuinely wanted to write what I thought an actual "Cheers" reunion would be. You can read that here.
Trivia
A fun freelance gig I've had for the past five years has been writing trivia questions for use in pub quiz nights, corporate events, etc. All original, all done without AI. What can I say? I like researching!
Fun trivia-related side note: I was a contestant on "Jeopardy!" in December 2019. I came in third, but it was close! And the interview segment went well, which was good because I was very nervous about Alex zinging me. After the show aired, a handful of hardcore "Jeopardy!" fans (is there any other kind?) messaged me online to tell me it was clear that Alex liked talking to me, and that usually wasn't the case. Small victories.
Social Media
Social media, and specifically Twitter/X, can be not very fun. But you know what? I still enjoy putting my little goofs on there at @jamisonwebb.
As of August 1, 2024, my posts on Twitter/X/TwiX have been "liked" more than 950,000 times and "retweeted" more than 125,000 times. These posts range from fake Billy Crystal Oscar monologue jokes to fake Johnny Carson "Tonight Show" monologue jokes to fake excerpts from the Nixon-Kennedy debates of 1960. Comb through my timeline and you'll find them and other such nonsense.
